Altars: The Place of Exchange II

Text: “And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (I| Corinthians 12:9 NKJV)

Today, as we proceed in our conversation, let’s take a cue from Apostle Paul, a man created and chosen by God to take the gospel to the Gentiles, Kings and the nation of Israel. This was no small mission for an ‘ordinary’ man, however, Paul obeyed God and after his conversion, began his ministry. (Acts 13:2-3)

Apostle Paul was a man of God’s presence; a man of prayer who understood the power of an active altar.

However, just like you and I, Paul had his struggles and weaknesses that had the potential to hinder the fulfilment of God’s will for his life.

The Bible doesn’t expressly reveal this weakness, but from Paul’s description in Il Corinthians 12:7-8, we see that it was a tough experience in his body that led him to seek God’s face three times for a way out.

This is quite similar to Jesus’ experience at Gethsemane.

Paul pleaded with God three times in prayers to take away this weakness, but the word of God to him was, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

While God did not take away the cause of Paul’s weakness, because as we see in previous verses, this was a deliberate move by God to keep him humble, nevertheless, an exchange took place. God replaced Paul’s weakness with His strength.

Paul left the presence of God strengthened to do God’s will regardless of his current challenges. Beloved, just like Paul, God desires that we experience an exchange of our weaknesses for His strength; the strength to do, become and execute His perfect will for our lives.

I assure you that moments of weakness are inevitable, but at the altar, there is an overflow of strength and grace to overcome and live a victorious and fulfilling life. Bring your shortcomings before God today and receive His strength.

Prayer

Lord, I acknowledge that I do not have the capacity to deal with my weaknesses, please empower me with grace and strength to overcome them today.
